Building a Sentimental Ornament Collection.

There is nothing quite as magical as unboxing and rediscovering our ornament collection, you know the special ones we have collected over the years. The ones from early days of dating, the ones from childhood, the ones we picked up through the year on trips or just the ones we fell in love with. Each ornament has a story, history and a special touch of the holiday magic we long for all year round and unboxing them always feels like welcoming back the holiday spirit in one fell swoop.

One thing I stand by is that you do not need new decor every year. Each year I add a few new piece's that I love- but ornaments are a different story. There is always room for new ornaments! And they are the perfect representation of collection memories to display during the happiest time of the year.

Collecting annual ornaments is so sweet and special and Emerson & I (along with our family) have the best time curating the collections and watching them grow year after year. I buy a new ornament for my parents and Emerson every year as part of their Christmas gift! This year I bought my dad the cutest Big Boy ornament - because when he was 18 he managed his local Big Boy and to this day him and my grandpa eat there weekly! I cannot share my moms or Emerson's because they read the blog (hi, mom & Emerson!) but theirs are just as good! They are just so special and a great keepsake to cherish year after year.

But for me personally, while my ornament collection brings me so much holiday cheer, I have a few mini collections of ornaments within them that I look forward to building every year!

I am going to give you an inside look at some of my mini collections and the stories that go with each of them, with the hope to inspire you to start or build your own mini ornament collection!

no 1: The Lenox Grinch Ornaments

One of my favorite things to get every year- that years Lenox Grinch! They are dainty, delicate and each year there is a new design! I have a mini tree for these special ornaments that usually goes near our coffee station. The muted colors and intricate detail makes these ornaments SO special! For the past 5 years, my mom sneaks and buys that years Grinch and finds an occasion to gift him to me before Christmas so he can be out to enjoy the season!

no 2: The Glitterville Ornaments

Last year right after we got married we took a mini-moon to Frankenmuth (MI) and went to the biggest Christmas store in the world- Bronner's! This is where I started my Glitterville ornament collection. Glitterville is designed by the sweetest guy based in Tennessee! I love Glitterville for all holidays but the ornaments are true show-stoppers on my tree! I picked up the S'more ornament to start the collection, was gifted the Santa last year and this year I grabbed the two nutcrackers (linked below from another small business!). I had never seen them in person and when they arrived I was truly blown away! The detail is so lovely and they are some of the most beautiful ornaments I have ever seen!

That is one of the best parts of collection ornaments such as Glitterville! It makes a really great gift idea to give to your family and friends and they can pick out one for you to build to your collection (or you can direct them to the ones you want!)

no 3: Pottery Barn Harry Potter Ornaments

Fall of 2022 was the first time we ever watched the Harry Potter movies! Neither of us had ever seen one and we broke down and watched the series. To say we loved it would be an understatement (I mean did you see my movie night blog?!). Last year, Emerson gifted me the Hogwarts Ornament from Pottery Barn. It is gorgeous. It lights up, it is sleek, gold and so detailed! One of my favorite gifts last year! This year they had Hagrid's Hut and Emerson early gifted it to me so it could be on the tree this year! Tradition started!

They are both still in stock and linked below!

no 4: The Custom Ornaments

After being together for 8 years, we got married last year. To celebrate our first Christmas as husband and wife, I found the cutest custom ornament! It was from a small business, hand stamped per order and it felt like such a sweet way to celebrate the first Christmas married. It's so classic and timeless. Earlier this season, I saw the custom ornaments from Bauble Bar - and fell in love. Then I got the idea to add a new custom one every year! 4th mini collection started! We picked out the one we wanted for this year (which was the hardest part I wanted them all- I mean did you see the gingerbread house ornament?!) and ordered it! It is even more beautiful in person!
